ITV Victoria TV Series review! πŸ‘ΈπŸ»Β

ITV are known for having amazing Drama Series’, from Cilla to Mrs Biggs to The Moorside, I absolutely love it when they have a new TV Drama Seires coming out as I just know what I will absolutely love what it’s about 9 times out of 10! And, when I saw they were doing one on our previous Queen Victoria  in the 1800’s I was beyond excited!

As you guys will know from my previous posts on here and for my constant shouting about loving history! This, as a history geek, intrigued me so much, I was so so hoping they would get the right people to play these parts too! And they did!

Jenna Coleman plays Victoria and Tom Hughes plays her husband later on in the series, Albert.

Around the time of this series being released I actually uploaded a post on how Victoria herself viewed her late husband;

For people wondered whether their love was actually as it was portrayed on the ITV Drama and in actual fact, it would appear it was.

The series itself starts off incredibly early in Victoria’s, also known as Alexandrian, life. She was a young Germany girl who’s uncle was currently on the throne and she was only 18 when taking on this position as Queen. Now how the show portrays her starting out rule I personally feel is spot on. Her mother and her “friend” really do not feel she can take on this role of queen, for Victoria was young, impressionable and small in height. They did not feel that men in government and parliament would listen to such a young and tiny lady. But they did, Victoria made this reign her own and you see the starting of this right from the first 2 episodes of this 8 part drama :).

The series goes through her struggles first starting out as queen, her love for someone she could never marry and getting heartbroken by this, all the way to her becoming very head strong and felling head over heels for her also German cousin Albert. It also includes the birth of their first child, Victoria.

The show in my eyes portrays everything so well, it fits in all the things that need to be fitted in within the first few years or her reign, setting up to motherhood, being a wife and being a queen at the same time. It is just fabulously done and really well acted from every actor in this show.

Season 2 is said to air sometime this year and this is something I will personally be anticipating the most. If you haven’t, go watch it! It is a TV Dramatisation so things have been dramatised for entertainment but, I personally feel it does get a fair amount historically correct.

With love, Charlotte x
