So, March 7th 2017, I receive an email from a lovely lady called Emily Williams asking if I would like to review her latest release, Letters to Eloise. I automatically jump at the chance as books that are told in the form of a diary are an instant hit with me as you guys will know, so I was beyond happy to do this! 🙂 Emily was also incredibly complimentary towards DBBloggerxoxo and its reviews which I again would like to thank her for, it was very lovely of her to say. So here’s the blurb and I will then go ahead with my review;
Letters to Eloise
‘Receiving a hand written letter is something that always puts a smile on my face, no matter who the sender is.’ Flora Tierney.
When post-graduate student Flora falls unexpectedly pregnant during her final year studies she hits a huge predicament; continue a recent affair with her handsome but mysterious lecturer who dazzles her with love letters taken from the ancient tale of ‘Abelard and Heloise’, or chase after the past with her estranged first love? But will either man be there to support her during the turmoil ahead?
‘Banish me, therefore, forever from your heart’ Abelard to Heloise
Right from the blurb I knew I would love this! Being a recent graduate myself, I knew I would connect to the stresses this character Flora may be facing in her 3rd and final uni year, the work load but obviously not the baby! But there was something about this which just pulled me in and I had to read it.
This story is a rollercoaster. Flitting back and forth between characters all the time but all the while still being consistent. It is in the form and style of a diary and kind of reminded me in some ways why I started my blog? A place to vent, get emotions across and just chat, except this diary is more private to a blog. To me I can’t see how anyone couldn’t fall in love with Flora, she is witty, warm hearted and strong so she is very likeable to anyone reading this fantastic novel. You go along with Flora and her life, plus her previous endeavours too so you know much more on a back story which is also very interesting. It is romantic, it is lovey dovey, but I absolutely love that.
The book itself takes a massive turn at one point and I found myself not knowing what to do with myself! Read on, not read on, I just didn’t know where to put myself! BUT I carried on, how could I not? I was hooked.
So, if you need a new read this spring PLEASE go and purchase this! You can do so here through this amazon link; Letters to Eloise, it will truly blow your mind, have you laughing but also having you crying.. Who doesn’t love a tear jerker hey? So Emily, if you’re reading this, thank you so so much for this awesome opportunity! I feel incredibly honoured to be asked to review this and I hope there are more books like this to come as you can bet I’ll be reading them!
With love, Charlotte x
