Thursday 19th November 2016 00:00am.. I was sat in Reel cinema in Hull absolutely bouncing in my seat! 😀 I was about to watch the midnight release of the Mockingjay part 2 and I could not wait!!

The Mockingjay for anyone who didn’t know is actually one book, but naturally (as all films seem to at the moment) this book was split in two and was made into two films. Before seeing part 1 I read half of the book up to the point I thought they would stop at and surprisingly, they did! So after seeing that I went home and read the last half of the book in a matter of 10 hours. I was absolutely gobsmacked.. I found that there was to be so many deaths in the last half that I knew instantly I would be a blubbering mess when I came out of the cinema when seeing this film.. Aaaaand I was.

I know a few people who have been to see part 2 now and I have heard many mixed reviews, some saying that they were disappointed and some not being disappointed at all and I’m afraid I agree with the people who were not disappointed. One of my friends said that they feel the last 30 mins of the film were rushed as if the director was trying to fit everything in, when in my opinion this can not be blamed on the film director since, in the book I and many others I know feel that the last two chapters of the book were rushed by the author herself, Suzanne Collins. I feel like in the last book she tried incredibly hard to round everything up in just the last two chapters making it all seem very squashed together and rushed, But the way this was portrayed in the last 30 minutes of the film I feel was better then how it was in the book. It got to the point, there is enough fighting and death in the first hour and a half, the last half an hour calms everything down which I think as an audience you need since you are put through a lot of emotions beforehand.

Jennifer Laurence in my opinion is such a brilliant actress I could not imagine Katniss Everdeen being played by anyone else! The way she portrays Katniss’ sadness and upset is just fantastic, since Katniss herself is a very ‘depressed’ type of character anyway. All in all I was not let down by this film what so ever.. Also Josh Hutcherson (who plays Peter Mellarck) also looks incredibly great in this film 😉 so 10/10 from me!
